How to Wash and Care for Bedding and Towels
Wash before first use
Always wash new bedding and towels before using them. It removes manufacturing residues, sets the colour, and makes them softer and more absorbent from day one.
Keep towels fluffy and absorbent
- Wash in warm water with a normal amount of detergent.
- Skip fabric softener on towels — it coats the fibres and reduces absorbency over time.
- A little white vinegar in the wash occasionally revives fluffiness and removes buildup.
- Dry fully — damp towels turn musty fast in humid weather.
Prevent bedsheet pilling and fading
Wash sheets on a gentle cycle, avoid overloading the machine (friction causes pilling), and turn coloured sheets inside out to protect the colour. Wash darks and lights separately for the first few washes.
Don’t over-detergent
Too much detergent leaves residue that makes linen stiff and dull. Use the right amount, and rinse well. Less is genuinely more.
Dry smartly
Line-dry in shade where possible — harsh direct sun fades colours over time. If using a dryer, avoid over-drying, which weakens fibres. Remove sheets slightly damp and they’ll wrinkle less.
Store clean and dry
Make sure linen is fully dry before storing to prevent mildew, especially in the monsoon. Store in a cool, dry place, and a sachet or natural freshener keeps it smelling fresh.
Rotate your sets
Using two sets in rotation spreads the wear, so each lasts far longer than a single set washed constantly.
